2025 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition Offers Unmatched Range Against Rivals

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition: A New Benchmark in Electric Trucks

We’ve driven the new Hummer EV pickup truck, as well as the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT fleet pickup, which represents opposing approaches to the capabilities of GM’s Ultium electric truck platform. The Hummer embodies a truck designed for excitement, while the Silverado EV WT focuses on work-related applications. Now, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition inherits characteristics from both, establishing itself as a versatile option in the lineup.

General Motors has confirmed a new range estimate for the Silverado EV RST of 440 miles, outperforming both GMC vehicles and every other EV pickup currently in production. The Hummer maxes out around 380 miles, the Rivian R1T at 410 miles, and the Ford F-150 Lightning features a range of just 320 miles. The Tesla Cybertruck comes in at 340 miles, lacking its rumored range-extender pack, which could potentially extend its range up to 470 miles.

The Silverado RST First Edition boasts an impressive 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Wide Open Watts driving mode, along with:

  • 10,000 pounds of towing capability
  • 1,300 pounds of payload
  • 350 kW DC fast charging capability
  • 7.2 kW of available V2L power use
  • 10.2 kW available with PowerBase power bar accessory

Although the new Silverado EV was expected to enter production last year, delays have pushed customer deliveries of the RST First Edition trim models to mid-2024. It utilizes the same Ultium-branded batteries and electric motors, sharing much of the platform with its sibling GMC Hummer EV and GMC Sierra EV pickup trucks. Full production of these models is anticipated this year. Meanwhile, the Hummer has already delivered approximately 5,000 units since early last year; GM has managed to move around 1,500 units of the Silverado EV thus far.
