2021 Ford Explorer Price Cuts and Enhancements

Completely redesigned for 2020, the Ford Explorer is fun to drive and offers a well-rounded hybrid variant. While there’s a lot to appreciate about this SUV, one notable complaint has been that the interior quality has not matched the sticker prices. However, it now appears that Ford will remedy this situation with significant price cuts across the Explorer lineup.

Significant Price Reductions

The base 2021 Ford Explorer now costs $33,470, reflecting a price decrease of $540. Moreover, other trims experience even steeper price cuts. For instance, the XLT is now $2,925 cheaper than last year, bringing the total price down to $35,245. The performance-oriented ST model sees a reduction of $2,135, making its starting price $53,850. Limited models also enjoy substantial discounts, particularly for the hybrid version, which starts in the $2,000 range. Furthermore, the top Platinum trim has a reduced starting price of $55,725, a decrease of $3,770.

Enhanced Features for 2021

For the new model year, the Explorer receives additional equipment across the lineup. For example, first-row heated seats become standard on the XLT, and a new Sport Appearance Package is now optional. The ST High Performance Pack introduces standard high-performance brake pads, enhancing safety and drivability. Furthermore, Ford is introducing improved interior finishes for the Limited, ST, and Platinum models, making these trims more appealing to buyers.

Ford confirmed the price reductions, stating that the goal is to better align with customer requests while making additional content standard. Consequently, this strategy results in a more competitively priced Ford Explorer with desirable content and features that customers seek.
