Overview
Cast as a sportier alternative to the GV80 SUV, the Genesis GV80 Coupe rocks a fastback roofline and more aggressive design. Two engines are on offer, starting with a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 with 375 ponies. Moreover, the top-dog powertrain is a version of that V-6 with both a turbo and an electric supercharger that makes 409 horsepower. The interior, while similar to the regular GV80 cabin, ditches the three-row seating layout for a two-row setup. A large, 27.0-inch digital display stretches across the majority of the GV80 Coupe’s dashboard, providing access to infotainment as well as vehicle info such as speed and navigation. The cabin features racier design elements compared to the regular GV80 SUV, including a flat-bottomed steering wheel and metal-accented throttle and brake pedals, which create a sporty ambiance. However, the GV80 Coupe’s driving experience is nearly identical to the non-coupe model’s, meaning it’s more luxurious than athletic. This suits those desiring a more style-forward alternative but limits its competitiveness with more powerful rivals such as the BMW X6 or Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

What’s New for 2025?
The GV80 Coupe is a new addition to the Genesis lineup for 2025.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The standard GV80 Coupe comes fully loaded with plenty of standard features, from a panoramic sunroof to powered, heated, and ventilated rear seats. While the e-Supercharged variant gets extra oomph with its 409 hp, it doesn’t add much in the way of interior features or material changes. Consequently, the base model’s 375 ponies from its turbocharged V-6 provide plenty of punch, allowing one to save nearly $6000 by opting for the base model.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The GV80 Coupe will offer two engine options, both gasoline-powered. A twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 makes 375 horsepower in base form, but a 409-hp variant is available and uses an electric supercharger to boost its output. Both configurations pair with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Genesis markets the GV80 Coupe as the sportier alternative to the three-row GV80 SUV. During our initial test drive, we didn’t find the Coupe to be significantly sharper than the squareback GV80, apart from the additional power of the available 409-hp powertrain. Moreover, the Coupe model benefits from an exclusive Sport+ driving mode, which is said to enhance the driving experience, though even in that mode, the overall vibe remains plush.
0-60–MPH Times
In our tests, the GV80 Coupe with the electric supercharger reached 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. We anticipate that the standard 375-hp model will be slightly slower, but we have not yet had the opportunity to verify this.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA rates the GV80 Coupe at 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined for the standard 3.5T model. In comparison, the version with the electric supercharger is rated at 18 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. When we have the chance, we will take the GV80 Coupe on our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route and update this article with the results. For more information about the GV80 Coupe’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
It is apparent that the GV80 Coupe’s interior does not provide the same spaciousness as the regular GV80’s, although amenities remain generous. Without a third-row seat in this fastback SUV, the Coupe accommodates two rows of seating for five. The prominent features and designs mirror those of the GV80, including plush seats wrapped in quilted leather upholstery. Genesis has incorporated luxurious features either as standard or optional extras, such as heated armrests, an in-car fragrance diffuser, and a device that uses UV light to disinfect smartphones. Additionally, cargo space behind the second row of seats is ample for two-row SUV standards, yet those often hauling bulky items may find the three-row GV80 more suitable.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All GV80 Coupes feature a large 27.0-inch digital display that begins behind the steering wheel with a gauge display and transitions right into a touchscreen infotainment screen. Moreover, it can also be controlled via a clickwheel controller on the center console. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Additionally, a 14.6-inch rear-seat entertainment screen is available, alongside a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
A comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features is standard, including a semi-autonomous driving mode that learns the owner’s driving style and mimics it while in use. For additional insights on the GV80 Coupe’s crash-test results, one may refer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Among its rivals, the GV80 Coupe offers one of the best standard warranty packages featuring extensive powertrain coverage. The BMW X6 and the Volvo XC90 provide similar complimentary maintenance, yet neither the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class nor the Range Rover Sport offer such high-mileage coverage.
- Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers 10 years or 100,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles
