2021 GMC Canyon AT4 and Denali: Key Features and Enhancements
The mid-size pickup truck market is experiencing fierce competition, and iBestTravel is doing its part to keep the momentum going with significant updates to the Canyon for 2021. Notably, the new AT4 off-road model joins the lineup, similar to GMC’s acclaimed Sierra AT4, alongside an updated Denali version featuring a redesigned grille.
Off-Road Capabilities of the Canyon AT4
Aimed at outdoor adventurers, the Canyon AT4 is equipped with an off-road tuned suspension and GMC’s Advanced Hill Descent Control system. This model replaces the pre-2021 Canyon All Terrain and comes with:
- 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires
- Eaton G80 locking rear differential
- Standard four-wheel drive
- Skid plate to protect the transfer case
Visual upgrades include dark chrome accents, an accentuated grille design, and distinctive red-painted tow/recovery hooks. Inside, the AT4 boasts unique stitching and AT4 badges on the headrests, enhancing the aesthetic appeal.
Canyon Denali: Luxury Features
The luxurious Canyon Denali is receiving a facelift for 2021. It features a new grille design inspired by the Sierra model, although detailed images are yet to be shared. Alongside the new grille, the Denali will offer:
- New Cocoa and “Dark Atmosphere” interior color scheme
- Chrome trim, five-inch chrome assist steps
- 20-inch aluminum wheels
- Heated and ventilated front seats
Performance and Engine Options
Neither the Canyon AT4 nor the Denali includes mechanical enhancements, both models continue to be powered by a robust 308-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine. An optional 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine is also available, catering to those seeking additional torque for towing or off-road adventures. Enhanced power options could potentially position GMC competitively against Ford’s anticipated Ranger Raptor model.
Pricing details for the updated Canyon models will be revealed later this year, closer to their anticipated release dates, allowing potential buyers to plan ahead.
