2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL Pricing and Features
General Motors has released prices for the 2021 GMC Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL. Interestingly, the price increments are quite modest considering the extensive updates and features of these all-new vehicles. The redesigned full-size SUVs are set to go on sale this summer, joining their completely overhauled Chevrolet Tahoe and longer Suburban siblings.
The base 2021 Yukon models are priced just $100 higher than their predecessors, whether opting for the standard rear-wheel drive or the available four-wheel drive. Specifically, the entry-level SLE trim begins at $51,995, or $54,995 for the four-wheel drive variant. The 2021 GMC Yukon maintains a slight price premium over the new Tahoe, which starts at $50,295; however, the price gap is relatively narrow compared to the competition. For context, Ford’s Expedition begins at $55,150 for the rear-drive model. Prices for the upscale Cadillac Escalade, which has also been redesigned for 2021, are yet to be revealed.
Focusing back on the Yukon, the entry-level SLE trim presents excellent value considering the numerous new features it includes. These enhancements range from a refreshed exterior and interior design to standard automated emergency braking and an independent rear suspension, replacing the outdated solid rear axle of previous models. Moreover, the entry-level Yukon XL models, which feature a longer wheelbase, have not seen any price increases and continue at $54,695 for rear-wheel drive and $57,695 for four-wheel drive. In comparison, the Ford Expedition Max, essentially the larger version of the standard Expedition, costs slightly more, starting at $58,175 with rear-wheel drive.
The new, off-road-focused Yukon AT4 starts at $66,095. Exclusively available with four-wheel drive, this robust version is equipped with 20-inch all-terrain tires, a two-speed transfer case, distinctive interior features, and an increased maximum ground clearance of two additional inches when equipped with the optional air suspension.
For those interested in the luxurious Denali version, which appeals to approximately 60 percent of previous Yukon buyers, the starting price is at least $69,695. This marks an increase of $700 from the earlier version, a relatively minimal change. Similarly, the Yukon XL Denalis are priced $600 higher than before. Denali trims elevate the standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine to a powerful 6.2-liter V-8 delivering 420 horsepower. Moreover, Denali models feature an exclusive interior that is exceptionally luxurious, complete with genuine wood trim and hand-stitched leather surfaces. Additional Denali features include a prominent chrome grille, a 15-inch head-up display, a surround-view camera, and Magnetic Ride Control.
