2025 Hyundai Tucson: Updates and Features

Hyundai’s compact Tucson SUV is receiving a range of small but significant revisions for 2025, notably alongside its Santa Cruz pickup truck sibling. Among these updates, the interior has seen the most substantial changes. Following last year’s redesign of the smaller Kona, the Tucson now flaunts a fresher, blockier dashboard design featuring Hyundai’s latest display setup. This includes two 12.3-inch screens enclosed in a unique binnacle atop the dash, complemented by a line of practical physical buttons and knobs placed below the central touchscreen. Moreover, a handy shelf has been introduced above the glovebox for passenger convenience. These alterations extend beyond mere aesthetics, as the new infotainment system is now capable of benefiting from over-the-air updates.

Same Tucson, Tiny Changes

Moving beyond the updated interior, every Tucson model will feature enhanced front and rear bumpers. Additionally, the daytime running lights have been refined to feature eight chiclet-shaped LEDs instead of the previously integrated ten, resulting in a streamlined, less cluttered appearance. Similarly, the Tucson adopts new anodized aluminum badging and revised aluminum wheel designs, which are available in sizes ranging from 17 to 19 inches.

The Tucson lineup includes a variety of options, such as gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants. The gas-powered model continues to utilize a 2.5-liter I-4 engine, delivering an output of 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations. The hybrid variants, designed for all-wheel drive only, employ a turbocharged 1.6-liter I-4 coupled with electric assist. The Plug-In Hybrid enhances this setup with a larger battery and more robust electric motor, resulting in distinct power outputs: the Tucson Hybrid generates 231 hp with 258 lb-ft of torque, while the Tucson Plug-In Hybrid reaches up to 268 hp, utilizing its 97-hp electric motor—all this made possible thanks to the PHEV’s 13.8-kWh battery that greatly surpasses the Hybrid’s 1.49-kWh unit.

A Tougher-Looking XRT Styling Package

Hyundai has made few alterations concerning the Tucson’s trim levels—SE, SEL, Limited, N Line, and for hybrids, the Blue. The standout trim, however, is the XRT, which features an “outdoors-themed” styling package enhanced for 2025. This trim is equipped with new all-terrain tires, 18-inch wheels, and updated roof rails for added versatility.
