Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition 2025 Winners
The winning images from the Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition 2025 have been unveiled, showcasing the breathtaking beauty on display across Britain. Now in its twelfth year, this prestigious competition received thousands of entries from all over the country.
Winning Image
The winning image, captured by Pete Rowbottom, depicts sharp shards of ice on a cold February morning in Glencoe, located in the Scottish Highlands. The numerous strong diagonal lines of the ice fractures echo the remarkable shape of Buachaille Etive Mòr in the background, presenting peaks of their own. The dynamic relationship between the mountain and the ice is visually striking, showcasing mathematical precision. Furthermore, the cold of the mountain and ice contrasts poignantly with the amber hues of their surroundings. As Charlie Waite, landscape photographer and founder of the awards, noted, this image allows viewers to hear, feel, and see the landscape, creating an emotionally strong experience that engages the viewer on multiple levels.
Variety of Winning Selections
The winning selection included a diverse array of scenes, from dramatic storms and raging seas to serene, misty woodlands and intimate close-ups of nature’s intricate details. The title of Young Landscape Photographer of the Year was awarded to Josef FitzGerald-Patrick for his captivating image of a mountain biker in action at Land’s End, Cornwall. Impressively, Josef won two of the four categories for young photographers in addition to the main prize.
