- The 2025 Lexus LX will be offered with a new hybrid powertrain called the LX700h.
- The LX700h pairs the twin-turbo V-6 with an electric motor for 479 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.
- The LX700h also introduces a new Overtrail trim that adds front and rear electronic locking differentials and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
In 2025, Lexus is modernizing its largest SUV with remarkable features. The new LX700h hybrid powertrain offers enhanced capabilities and an innovative Overtrail trim designed for off-road adventures. Notably, the LX600 and LX700h luxury SUVs will debut early next year.
Electrical Assistance
The LX700h utilizes a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine coupled with an electric motor, delivering an impressive total output of 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. This hybrid engine setup maintains the same 10-speed automatic transmission found in the LX600. Additionally, Lexus anticipates an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg, an improvement over the 2024 model.
This innovative hybrid system is equipped with both an alternator and a starter, ensuring reliable performance even when the hybrid system is inactive. The LX700h boasts all-terrain benefits, allowing for electric motor operation in low-range scenarios, thus providing precise throttle control when needed.
To accommodate the additional weight of the hybrid components, Lexus has designed a new robust three-cross frame. Furthermore, the hybrid battery is ingeniously positioned to preserve the vehicle’s departure angles and interior cargo space.
Exploring New Territory
Joining the LX lineup, the Overtrail trim is tailored for off-road enthusiasts. Featuring advanced front and rear locking differentials, the LX700h is perfectly equipped to conquer challenges. It comes with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires, a protective skid plate, and a powerful 2400-watt AC inverter for outdoor use.
The Overtrail is distinctively styled with a matte gray grille, black accents, and exclusive Earth paint color options, enhancing its adventurous persona. The interior is designed for comfort, offering luxurious leather upholstery and all-weather floor liners.
More Goodies for Everyone
For 2025, the LX range benefits from an array of new standard features. All variants now include active height control, an adaptive variable suspension, and a head-up display. Enhanced USB-C ports and a front wireless charger are part of the upgrade.
The LX700h model adds a center console cool box and rear manual sunshades, along with a shelf system in the cargo area. Notably, the front seating now offers five massage options with semi-aniline leather trim.
Furthermore, every 2025 LX comes equipped with Lexus’s Safety System+ 3.0, incorporating vital driver assistance technologies, including adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking. The LX700h will also feature Advanced Park with Remote Park capabilities for automated parking.
While the LX600’s powertrain remains unchanged for 2025, both the LX600 and LX700h maintain an impressive towing capacity of up to 8000 pounds. Pricing details are forthcoming, but a modest increase over the 2024 model’s starting figure of $93,915 is expected, with the hybrid LX700h likely positioned at a higher starting point.
