2025 Mazda Miata: Upgrades and Increased Pricing Insights

2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata: A Blend of Performance and Style

The reliable 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata roadster enters its ninth year of production within the current ND generation, now designated as the “ND3” generation. All models continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Sport and Club trims feature a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic is optional for Grand Touring trims. Moreover, enhancements in steering and other features have been introduced this model year, promising improved performance.

Design Enhancements

Identifying the precise design adjustments for the new 2024 Miata can be challenging, as the updates largely focus on new headlight units featuring LED DRL elements, new LED taillights, and redesigned multi-spoke wheels reminiscent of classic styles. Additionally, the color palette has expanded this year, offering Snowflake White Pearl, Zircon Sand Metallic, and a new Aero Gray at an added charge of $450, while Machine Grey Metallic or Soul Red Crystal Metallic is available for $595.

Mechanical Advancements

Improvements to the electric power-assisted steering system include a revamped rack with improved internals to reduce friction, along with new software calibrations designed for a more defined on-center feel and greater precision during cornering. The Miata still utilizes a straightforward limited-slip system that assists in braking the inner-rear wheel during high-g cornering to minimize unwanted body roll.

The Club and Grand Touring trims feature a new asymmetric conical clutch limited-slip differential, delivering enhanced lockup during engine braking for greater overall stability when entering corners. Additionally, on Club models, a “DSC-Track” mode enhances the threshold of the vehicle’s standard dynamic stability control system while still providing a modicum of brake intervention at the limits of performance.

New Features and Technology

A $4,800 Brembo BBS Recaro package is now available on Club models and is included in the price of the Club RF. The package comprises an exterior gloss black aero kit, Brembo brakes equipped with red-painted calipers, gunmetal grey 17-inch BBS forged wheels, and heated Recaro sport seats.

Interior Upgrades

Inside the 2024 ND3 Miata, enhancements include additional padding in the center console, a larger 8.8-inch infotainment screen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto touch functionality, and a new Amazon Alexa voice-activated assistant for hands-free control of HVAC, radio, and compatible smart home devices. Furthermore, the updated gauge cluster features new high-contrast graphics to improve readability.

Pricing and Availability

All of these enhancements come with a relatively modest price increase across the board for each 2024 Miata trim. Both soft-top and foldable hard-roof RF models remain available. After factoring in destination fees, the base Miata now exceeds $30,000, escalating to $41,375 (before options) for the most equipped RF Club trim, which includes the Brembo BBS Recaro package. According to Mazda, the updated model year will be available in winter 2024.
