2021 Nissan Sentra Updates and Pricing
After a complete redesign last year, Nissan’s compact sedan is back for the new model year with just a few updates. The 2021 Nissan Sentra has arrived at dealerships with additional tech features and a new paint option. Fortunately, prices remain relatively stable.
The base Sentra starts at $20,335, which is a modest increase of $100 from the previous year. This slight price bump now includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, features that were previously limited to the two upper trims.
On the top SR trim, the automaker now offers NissanConnect Services, which enables drivers to access their Sentra via a mobile app and call for emergency assistance when needed. Additionally, the SR trim features NissanConnect with a Wi-Fi hotspot option. Finally, SR buyers can choose a new Electric Blue Metallic paint job paired with a black roof.
The 2021 Nissan Sentra remains more affordable than major competitors in the compact sedan segment, including models like the 2021 Honda Civic, which starts at $22,005, and the 2021 Toyota Corolla, priced from $20,920. This compact sedan offers a compelling array of features for its starting price. Furthermore, the previous model, the 2020 Sentra, was a finalist for the Car of the Year award due to its strong value and appealing style. However, other cars in its segment, such as the Civic, provide a slightly more engaging driving experience.
The sedan continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 149 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. Power is managed through a continuously variable transmission. This engine is more powerful than that found in the previous-generation base Sentra, although upgraded models of the older generation produced 188 hp. Consequently, along with the enhanced engine, Nissan has made significant upgrades to the interior quality.
