We’ve known about the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX for some time now. Ever since it made its debut in concept form at the 2016 State Fair of Texas, we’ve eagerly anticipated the launch of this long-travel off-roader powered by a supercharged Hellcat 6.2-liter V-8. Recently confirmed for production, the Rebel TRX has been spotted in the wild, providing us an exciting glimpse at this Ford F-150 Raptor competitor. Expect the Hellcat’s full 707 horsepower to be part of this remarkable vehicle.
2021 Ram Rebel TRX: Bespoke Suspension and Hot Rod Engine
The 2021 Ram Rebel TRX will boast a significantly upgraded suspension compared to the conventional 1500 Rebel. Close-ups of the rear suspension reveal either forged or billet control arms and suspension links. The larger front control arms will enhance stability during high-speed off-roading, while billet shock-absorber mounts suggest durability for intricate low-speed maneuvers.
Larger rear suspension links seamlessly align with the front track, and an extensive skidplate package is evident beneath the Rebel TRX. This truck features Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires, anticipated to measure around 35 inches, providing a 2-inch increase over the regular Rebel. The larger tires contribute additional ground clearance, complemented by significant suspension upgrades.
Rumors suggest possibly taller springs and long-travel shocks, which may be electronically actuated. It’s speculated that the Ram Rebel TRX will offer as much as 14 inches of suspension travel. Nonetheless, it’s still unclear whether this high-performance pickup will maintain shock-absorber longevity comparable to the impressive F-150 Raptor.
Witnesses have confirmed a noticeable supercharger presence, with its distinct whine audible as the Ram Rebel TRX sped off. The truck’s performance suggests it will rival the Ford F-150 Raptor, with the Hellcat’s 707 horses and 650 lb-ft capable of outpacing the Raptor’s 450-hp and 510-lb-ft.
When the 2019 Ram 1500 was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2018, some automotive enthusiasts expressed disappointment over its less aggressive styling. However, with the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX, there’s little to worry about. Wider fenders will complement the truck’s broader track, and we anticipate the Coke-bottle styling of the 2016 concept to transition into the production model effortlessly.
Additionally, the updated front clip includes extra vents for cooling the massive supercharged V-8, combined with a bulging hood likely featuring air intakes or heat extractors—enhancing off-road capabilities by increasing wading depth. The previously mentioned 35-inch tires will further transform the truck’s appearance and stance for a bolder look.
While Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has yet to confirm a timeline or pricing for the Ram Rebel TRX, expectations are for an unveiling this summer, with a launch in dealerships by the first quarter of next year. Pricing is anticipated to begin around $55,000 for the base truck featuring the naturally aspirated V-8, and approximately $65,000 for the Hellcat version.
