World walk: On May 21, 2022, Tom Turcich, from New Jersey, became the 10th person on record to achieve this remarkable feat, while his four-legged companion Savannah, pictured, became the first dog.
Inspiration Behind the Journey
Source of inspiration: It was the death of his long-time friend Ann Marie in 2006 that inspired Turcich, seen with Savannah in the Moroccan badlands, to attempt the challenge.
Companionship on the Road
Loyal companion: Around four months after he set off, Turcich acquired rescue dog Savannah from an animal shelter in Austin, Texas.
