Nearly 2 Million Vehicles Affected by Ford and Kia Recalls

Ford and Kia Vehicle Recalls: What You Need to Know

Issues with trim retention clips on certain Ford Explorers and roof molding on certain Kia Sportage and Carnival vehicles have prompted both automakers to recall nearly two million vehicles in total.

Ford Recall: 1.89 Million Explorers

Ford is recalling approximately 1.89 million Explorer SUVs from model years 2011 to 2019, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Under specific driving conditions, the A-trim retention clips in these vehicles may detach, posing a potential road hazard and increasing the crash risk due to improper engagement.

Ford plans to notify affected owners of the recall by March 13. Inquiries can be directed to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

Kia Recall: About 101,000 Vehicles

Kia is recalling approximately 101,000 vehicles, including certain 2023 to 2024 model year Sportage SUVs and certain 2022 to 2024 model year Carnival passenger vans. The recall is due to the risk of roof molding becoming loose or detaching during driving. This increases the likelihood of road hazards that could lead to crashes.

Kia anticipates notifying affected owners by March 15. Kia customer service can be reached at 1-800-333-4542 for further assistance.
