Ford Recall: Over 90,000 Vehicles Affected by Engine Issue
Ford recently announced a recall of 90,736 vehicles equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the risk involves potential fracture of the vehicle’s engine intake valves while driving, which could lead to engine failure.
The investigation began in January 2022, following multiple reports of engine failures attributed to broken intake valves from Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus models. Documents submitted to the NHTSA revealed that the materials used by the valve supplier did not meet required specifications.
Additionally, Ford explored similar problems with the 2021 Bronco models, discovering 251 cases of fractured valves during warranty service. In May 2022, NHTSA initiated a “Defect Petition” after numerous complaints from Bronco customers. Ford’s response in January 2024 indicated a “higher than ambient level of repairs” observed for vehicles manufactured between May and October 2021.
Ford Trucks and SUVs Recalled
The recall affects the following models from 2021 to 2022:
- 2021-2022 Ford Bronco – 15,835 recalls
- 2021-2022 Ford Edge – 2,366 recalls
- 2021-2022 Ford Explorer – 14,262 recalls
- 2021-2022 Ford F-150 – 47,719 recalls

Toyota Recalls Over 43,000 Sequoia Hybrid SUVs
In a recent report from the NHTSA, 43,395 Toyota 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrid SUVs are being recalled due to a tow hitch cover that may detach, heightening the risk of a crash. This follows a significant recall affecting over 300,000 Toyota vehicles announced earlier this year.
Toyota is authorizing dealers to replace the tow hitch cover and modify the rear bumper at no charge to owners. Notification letters are anticipated to be dispatched by October 5, 2024. For inquiries, owners can reach Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. The official recall numbers are 24TB10 and 24TA10.
Acura Recalls Electric SUVs
Acura has also announced a recall of 4,174 2024 Acura ZDX All-Wheel Drive electric SUVs due to a defect in the anti-lock brake system, which may activate unexpectedly, thereby releasing brake pressure. This could lead to overly sensitive braking incidents or complete brake failure, which are serious safety concerns.
Notification letters are scheduled to be sent to owners by September 23, 2024. For concerns regarding the recall, Acura customer service can be contacted at 1-800-382-2238 (recall number: UJE). The software related to the electronic brake control module will undergo an update either through an over-the-air method or by a dealer, free of charge.
