2024 Primetime Emmy Awards Recap

The Primetime Emmy Awards, honoring the best in American television, were handed out on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Major Winners

“Shōgun,” the historical drama based on James Clavell’s bestselling narrative, emerged as one of the night’s big winners, taking home the Emmy for outstanding drama series. Furthermore, it also secured lead acting awards for both Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai.

Another standout was FX’s “The Bear,” which won three acting Emmys. Star Jeremy Allen White clinched the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas received acclaim for their supporting roles.

On the Netflix front, “Baby Reindeer” was awarded the Emmy for outstanding limited series, anthology, or TV movie. Creator Richard Gadd also won acting and writing Emmys earlier in the night, along with supporting actress Jessica Gunning.

The award show concluded with Max’s “Hacks” winning the Emmy for outstanding comedy series. Its star, Jean Smart, collected yet another Emmy for lead actress.

Jodie Foster, winning for outstanding lead actress in a limited series for “True Detective: Night Country,” expressed the personal significance of her victory, stating, “This is an incredibly emotional moment for me because ‘True Detective: North Country’ was just a magical experience.”
