AC Schnitzer Tuned Toyota Supra: 400 HP and 21-Inch Wheels

AC Schnitzer Enhancements for Toyota Supra

The engineering alliance between BMW and Toyota for the new Z4 and Supra sports cars continues to evolve. Underneath, these two models share a common platform, including the same engine and many interior components. AC Schnitzer, a German company widely recognized for its specialization in BMW tuning, has introduced upgrades specifically for the A90-generation Toyota Supra. This collaboration emphasizes the interconnection between BMW and Toyota models, even in the aftermarket scene.

Tuning Enhancements Overview

This marks the first time AC Schnitzer has worked on a Toyota model, albeit one that has BMW roots. The upgrades provided in the AC Schnitzer Supra enhancement package are not overly aggressive; instead, they comprise popular modifications aimed at unlocking additional performance from daily drivers. The specification includes:

  • Power increase from 335 to 400 horsepower.
  • Torque rise from 365 lb-ft to 442 lb-ft.
  • A new exhaust system designed for an exhilarating acoustic experience.

It’s important to note that Toyota has already introduced its own upgrades for the 3.0-liter Supra in the 2020 model year, enhancing stock figures to 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque.

Styling and Performance Features

The tuning modifications extend beyond mere power adjustments; AC Schnitzer has put significant effort into enhancing the Supra’s aesthetics. Notable exterior modifications include a large rear wing, an aggressive front splitter, additional ventilation carved into the hood, and a choice of 20-inch or, intriguingly, 21-inch wheels.

Consequently, the addition of larger wheels on a compact car like the Supra could potentially affect ride quality. However, AC Schnitzer addresses this concern with their RS coilover suspension kit, which reduces ride height by:

  • 1.1 inches at the front.
  • 1.4 inches at the rear.

The company asserts that the resulting setup remains comfortable and suitable for everyday use. Inside the car, enhancements include a special cover for the infotainment control knob and aluminum pedal covers, boosting the overall aesthetic appeal.

Warranty and Peace of Mind

While a specific price for the modifications has not been disclosed, they do come with a warranty offering up to 36 months of coverage. This assurance provides peace of mind not typically associated with DIY modifications. Furthermore, the prospect of enhancing your Toyota Supra with professional German tuning work adds an exciting layer to the ownership experience.
