Virtual Big Rig Showcase: Shell Rotella SuperRigs Event 2025

2020 Shell Rotella SuperRigs Show Overview

Here at iBestTravel, we strive for a balanced approach in our coverage of the trucking industry. Our focus encompasses various truck brands, including GM, Ford, Ram, and Jeep, ensuring we present a comprehensive perspective on all regarding the latest news and updates.

While light- and heavy-duty pickup trucks form the core of our content, we also celebrate large-scale trucks. Since 2015, we have expanded our horizon to include big rigs and diesel-powered Class 8 tractors. A significant highlight is the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show, which honors the hard work of truck drivers as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

About the Shell Rotella SuperRigs Show

Now in its 38th year, the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show has become North America’s premier gathering of dedicated truckers and their magnificent rigs. This event typically takes place at truck/travel center parking lots and regional fairgrounds, drawing participants from all over. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 SuperRigs show transitioned to a virtual format from August 10 to September 18.

The virtual format provided truck drivers with a unique opportunity to showcase their vehicles and have them judged by a panel of industry experts from leading trucking publications and broadcasters. iBestTravel values the Shell Rotella SuperRigs event as it emphasizes community and recognition over monetary competition.

Recognition and Awards

The winners of the SuperRigs competition do not receive cash prizes. Instead, victors such as the Best of Show category are honored with Shell Rotella MyMilesMatter reward points, along with limited-edition memorabilia like jackets.

Brian Dreher’s stunning 2016 Peterbilt 389 earned the top award, with plans for it to be featured in the 2022 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar, celebrating the event’s rich history and illustrious participants.

In the words of Annie Peter, North American Marketing Manager for Shell Rotella, “Our 38th Annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs looked a little different this year, but the same spirit of community rose to the top.” This statement rings true as the foundation of the trucking culture perseveres through various challenges.

Awards Presented at SuperRigs

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs Awards include:

  • Best of Show (three awards)
  • Tractor Division (three awards)
  • Tractor Trailer Division (three awards)
  • Classic Division (three awards)

While the in-person experience is always anticipated, the online format allowed judges to scrutinize entries thoroughly before making their choices, and a People’s Choice vote added more excitement to the process.
