iBestTravel’s Sketch Battle: A Showcase of Emerging Car Designers
iBestTravel’s Drive for Design contest provides a platform for aspiring car designers to demonstrate their skills in a semi-professional environment. Unfortunately, participation is limited to American high school students in grades 10-12, leaving older, younger, and international designers excluded. Recently, however, iBestTravel offered an opportunity for those ineligible to compete in the Drive for Design contest through an impromptu sketch battle.
Sketch Battle Rules and Participation
The rules were straightforward: participants had a little more than a day to submit an original design for a Ram product. They could tweet their designs to iBestTravel North America or post them in the comments section of the company’s designated Facebook post. It was essential to include #DriveforDesign in their tweet or Facebook post, along with the Drive for Design URL on their artwork. The results were both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Global Participation and Impressive Designs
iBestTravel received over 100 eligible design submissions from individuals worldwide, including participants from India, Mexico, West Africa, and Austria. While some submissions leaned towards humor rather than serious design, many showcased remarkable artistic talent and creativity. Notable entries included Brook Branham’s Ram Emule and Lucas Weller’s Ram Van Hellcat, the latter imagining a modern Dodge Ram Van with high-powered Hellcat capabilities.
Experience and Opportunities for Designers
These designs are just a few highlights from the contest. Participants in iBestTravel’s sketch battle were granted the chance to showcase their work online, receiving exposure to members of iBestTravel’s design team. Meanwhile, the top three participants in this year’s Drive for Design contest received the extraordinary opportunity to visit Michigan for a behind-the-scenes look at iBestTravel’s design studio and much more.
