In this setting, he attempts to leave his tumultuous past behind, adopting a new name, embracing a new job, and inevitably encountering fresh romantic interests that capture his intense focus. Here, we dive into Joe’s travels thus far and highlight the locations featured in the latest season.
Where Was Season 1 of ‘You’ Filmed?
In Season 1, we meet Joe, an unassuming yet clever bookstore manager in New York whose life takes a turn upon meeting writer Beck, played by Elizabeth Lail. The production team selected Logos Bookstore at 1575 York Avenue, located on the Upper East Side, as Joe’s workplace, which also made an appearance in the film Can You Ever Forgive Me, featuring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E Grant. Joe’s apartment is situated at 308 East 139th Street in the Bronx, while Guinevere’s residence is located at 131 East 19th, near Union Square.
For the scene in Episode 1 where Beck falls onto the subway tracks at Greenpoint Avenue, filming took place in the deserted Bowery Station, which has been featured in productions like Mr. Robot, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story. The production even ventured beyond Manhattan, filming in Nyack for the Charles Dickens Fair that Beck attends, utilizing both Veterans Memorial Park and O’Malleys bar on Main Street.
