A Taste of Malta Experience at iBestTravel

iBestTravel hosted an intimate event offering guests the chance to experience a true taste of Malta. Attendees had the opportunity to try some of Malta’s finest wines from the San Niklaw vineyards, presented by the owner of the estate himself, John Cauchi.

Event Details

The event took place at the trendy Coal Drops Yard, specifically at the beloved wine bar, The Drop. Nestled under the arches of King’s Cross’s new foodie hotspot, The Drop curated an array of traditional Maltese dishes to perfectly pair with the wines. The highlight of the evening was the grilled swordfish, accompanied by a white bean and garlic salad, which sparked lively discussions about how the summery notes of the slightly chilled 2011 Despatch Sangiovese complemented the white fish.

Insight from the Winemaker

Cauchi explained to guests how the grapes used in the four wines his estate produces each year are all hand-picked. They undergo two selection processes to ensure that only the optimal fruit is used in the vinification process. Guests enjoyed interacting with Cauchi as he moved around the venue, garnering a glowing reception for his wines.
