iBestTravel’s Culinary Adventure: A Taste of Portugal
On an idyllic summer evening, guests were treated to an exquisite exploration of Portugal’s finest wines and culinary delights. Two talented chefs made their way to London for this special occasion: Arnaldo Azevedo from the newly Michelin-starred Vila Foz in Porto, and João Mourato from the Quinta do Quetzal restaurant, located near the oldest known Roman winery in Portugal, in the picturesque Alentejo region.
A Memorable Evening at Wild by Tart
The event took place in the stunning event space at Wild by Tart in Belgravia, adorned with Portuguese-inspired florals. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a selection of delightful canapés paired with carefully chosen wines.
Engaging Discussions and Delightful Sips
Each course was presented by the chefs and the Wines of Portugal educator, Sofia Salvador. This interactive experience prompted lively discussions as guests eagerly shared their tasting notes, reflecting on how the wine pairings complemented each dish superbly.
Highlight of the Evening
The standout wine of the night was a complex red from João Mourato’s estate, the Quinta do Quetzal Família 2016. Bottled exclusively in magnums, this wine showcases an outstanding evolution and remains at its best over time. Guests noted its remarkable freshness, especially for such a robust red, served slightly chilled to accentuate the notes of spice and black fruit.
