Travel Guidelines for Visiting Ireland
Ireland is part of the common travel area. This means that international arrivals from various regions do not need to quarantine when travelling to Ireland. Notably, travellers from regions with Covid-related quarantine rules for international arrivals can enter Ireland without facing restrictions.
As of 6 March 2022, travellers heading to Ireland are not required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of recovery. Moreover, negative test results or Irish passenger locator forms are not mandatory regardless of vaccination status. Travellers can enjoy a seamless entry without the need for quarantine or testing upon arrival.
Is it Legal to Travel to Ireland?
Yes, travel for leisure purposes is permitted. Residents from the UK have been allowed to travel since 17 May, and from 19 July 2021, Ireland has been open to British, US, and EU travellers. Importantly, UK travellers can enter Ireland without the necessity to prove their vaccination status or present negative test results.
Entry Requirements for Ireland
Currently, there are no entry requirements related to coronavirus for Ireland or Northern Ireland at the time of writing.
Lockdown Restrictions in Ireland
As of 19 July, international travel has resumed for Irish citizens and residents. Public venues such as theatres, cinemas, galleries, museums, bars, cafés, restaurants, hotels, B&Bs, and self-catered rentals have reopened, facilitating an enjoyable travel experience.
Travelling from Northern Ireland
There are no restrictions on travel to or from Northern Ireland into Ireland, making it easy for Northern Irish residents to explore the Republic.
