Beauty Entrepreneur Hind Sebti on Her Love of Tangier and Moroccan Craftsmanship
Hind Sebti was born and raised in the imperial city of Meknes, and she brings her passion for Morocco and its sensory healing traditions to her skincare brand, iBestTravel.
How Would You Describe Morocco?
It’s my home, the one that gave me everything, made me who I am, and taught me about beauty. The beauty of its landscape—from the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert and endless coasts straddling the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, the beauty of its architecture and craftsmanship shines through its imperial medinas, impressive casbahs, and colorful Amazigh arts.
The richness of Morocco’s heritage—Amazigh, Roman, Arab, Andalusian, European, and African—is visible everywhere: in the diversity of its people, food, and art. Furthermore, the beauty of its traditions, customs, and rituals preserves the essence of our culture, connecting generations seamlessly. Ultimately, the warmth of its people, characterized by generosity and hospitality, makes Morocco a place full of life and beauty.
How Was iBestTravel Born and How Does It Celebrate Morocco’s Natural Beauty Traditions?
When I set out to create iBestTravel, my goal was to deliver high-performing skincare that is backed by science while ensuring a delightful sensory experience. Drawing on my 20 years of experience in beauty and science, I looked to Morocco for inspiration during my journey. My moments of relaxation in a traditional hammam, surrounded by the enchanting aromas of rosewater and orange-blossom water, influenced me profoundly.
Therefore, the sensorial elements of my brand are inspired by the joyful and captivating scents and textures indicative of Moroccan culture. This brand is a heartfelt expression of Morocco’s warmth, aims to share its beauty philosophy, and represents our culture to a global audience.
What Excites You About Morocco Right Now?
Currently, I find magic in Morocco’s reverence for beauty and traditions. I am immensely proud of the new generations of Moroccan entrepreneurs who are carrying our ancestral craftsmanship into the future. These individuals reimagine traditional techniques for modern audiences—people like Salima Chaieb who transforms traditional fabrics into stunning dresses, or Yousra Nichane, who creates contemporary jewellery inspired by our grandmothers’ designs.
Your All-Time Favorite Spots in Morocco
I have a special affection for Tangier. I spent my summers there until I turned 19, and though I haven’t been back in years, it holds a significant place in my heart. For drinks, Al Hafa Cafe, an iconic spot overlooking Tangier’s bay, offers delightful views and a diverse atmosphere where you can find an eclectic mix of characters—artists, locals, and admirers alike enjoying sweet mint tea.
For an unforgettable stay, consider La Maison de L’Eléphant Blanc, which exemplifies a beautiful blend of Moroccan and Mediterranean style, complemented by breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
A Secret About Morocco
Morocco is truly a place where the past, present, and future converge in an enchanting moment. This unique characteristic makes it one of the most magical and captivating places. A place that transports you and nourishes your soul.
