As someone whose life has been transformed through solo travel, I hope that one day we live in a world where every independent traveler can expect to be treated the same, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, or bodily ability. In my years as a travel writer, however, some destinations stand out as particularly hospitable to solo female travelers. It’s a regular topic of discussion among my circle of female fellow explorers, including women of color, female travelers with disabilities, and LGBTQI+ travelers.
