Discover the Innovative Aquilia 360 Compact Camping Trailer

Lidu RV Aquilia 360: The Future of Teardrop Camping Trailers

Whether you’re living a nomadic remote work life on the road or seeking more affordable alternatives to fixed homes, the concept of a small camping trailer can greatly enhance the sometimes cramped #vanlife experience. As a result, camper manufacturers are continually introducing more technologically advanced campers, and the Lidu RV Aquilia 360 prototype offers an exciting blend of modern features beyond just fancy lighting and touchscreen controls.

Prototype Presentation

The Lidu RV Aquilia 360 is currently a prototype that was showcased at the Caravan Salon Dusseldorf show. While industry experts and YouTube reviewers have highlighted its innovative design, no official timeline has been announced regarding its availability for purchase or pricing.

Technological Advancements

The Aquilia 360 is built upon an all-aluminum AL-KO chassis with a torsion axle and fifth-wheel attachment, differentiating it from traditional travel trailers that often feature heavy steel frames. Its design integrates 16-inch aluminum wheels equipped with Bridgestone trailer tires. The combination of “automotive-grade” steel and aluminum stampings creates a durable yet lightweight body, weighing in at just 2,645.5 pounds fully assembled. This weight makes it easily towable by many midsize SUVs, including models like the 2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and the 2025 Subaru Outback.

Water System Specifications

To facilitate outdoor adventures, the Aquilia 360 features an 8.18-gallon clean water tank and a 6.08-gallon grey water tank, both of which can be filled via an outdoor water filler or an external water pipe. An indoor water pump services both tanks for convenient access.

Compact Dimensions, Spacious Interior

With dimensions measuring nearly 17 feet in length, just over 7 feet in width, and under 7.7 feet in height, the Aquilia 360 boasts a surprisingly spacious interior. The pop-up roof increases total height to just over 9 feet while providing a generous headroom of 6.6 feet. Notably, the trailer incorporates an advanced braking system and AL-KO’s AKS stabilizer system, making it a practical choice for novice trailer towers.

Smart Features

The electrically operated pop-up roof is capable of holding up to 66 pounds of luggage, and an additional storage compartment on the tongue offers 10.6 cu-ft of extra space. A set of 360W solar panels connects to an 800-ah lithium-ion battery, allowing for sustainable energy use.

Interior Design and Comfort

Inside, the camper utilizes ABS for interior walls and aluminum for frames, complemented by a stylish PVC floor designed to mimic dark wood. A flip-top kitchen area, complete with an induction stove and sink, provides essential cooking facilities. For greater flexibility, an outdoor burner is also available.

Innovative Amenities

The kitchen area includes a 1.77-cu-ft refrigerator and a heated/cooled cup holder, which maintains temperatures from 32 to 140 degrees. A wireless charging station and pop-up aromatherapy system add to the modern conveniences found within this incredible camper.

Sleeping and Entertainment Options

A small roll-up space features the Freucamp portable toilet, positioned conveniently in proximity to the bed. The seating uses premium materials reminiscent of luxury vehicles, providing both style and comfort. The interior also showcases a 13-inch touchscreen for controls, an Alpine six-speaker sound system, and a constellation sunroof for ambient lighting.

Climate Control and Ventilation

During hot summer days, a Dometic 2.7-kW air conditioner ensures a cool environment, while a Highland diesel air heater provides warmth with 2-kW capacity. The power-split rear doors allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor experience, perfect for enjoying scenic views from your camping spot.

Potential Market Impact

Despite being a prototype, the Lidu RV Aquilia 360 has immense potential in the camping market. Its innovative features and modern design could make it a top contender if successfully introduced to the U.S. market.
