2025 Toyota Prius and RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid Overview
The Prius Prime and RAV4 Prime have been rebranded for 2025, making it easier for customers to identify their plug-in hybrid Toyota options. These vehicles are now referred to simply as the “Prius Plug-In Hybrid” and “RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid.” This renaming not only simplifies the branding but also highlights their capabilities more clearly.
2025 Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid
The RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid maintains the same two trim levels as before: the entry-level SE and the upgraded XSE. Notably, the pricing for the 2025 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid SE has seen a modest increase of just $175 compared to the previous year’s RAV4 Prime SE. This model comes equipped with essential features such as:
- Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ (including adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning)
- Heated front seats
- An 8.0-inch touchscreen
- 8-way power driver’s seat
- A power opening tailgate
- A 6.6-kW onboard charger
Powering the RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid is a robust 2.5-liter I-4 engine, which collaborates with dual electric motors. Additionally, a third electric motor powers the rear axle, facilitating all-wheel drive. The total output reaches an impressive 302 horsepower, allowing the RAV4 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds during testing. It also features an 18.5-kWh lithium-ion battery that provides up to 42 miles of electric-only driving range before transitioning to conventional hybrid operation.
2025 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid
The Prius Plug-In Hybrid (formerly known as Prius Prime) continues to shine in the Toyota lineup. Powered by a more potent hybrid setup compared to the standard Prius, this model delivers an impressive 220 horsepower generated through its two electric motors and 2.0-liter gasoline engine, focusing power solely on the front tires.
Equipped with a larger 13.6-kWh battery, the Prius Plug-In Hybrid offers up to 44 miles of electric-only driving range. The model is available in sportier trim levels: SE, XSE, and XSE Premium. Unlike the RAV4, the Prius Plug-In Hybrid comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which enhances safety features with lane-keep assist. Pricing details for the 2025 Prius Plug-In Hybrids are expected to be announced soon.
