2025 Polestar 3 Overview
The new Polestar 3 electric SUV is slightly larger than the popular Tesla Model Y and comparable in size to the upcoming 2026 Rivian R2. This trio routinely garners attention from those interested in high-end, two-row midsize all-electric SUVs. However, while the Tesla Model Y offers surprising value starting at $45,380 (before applicable tax incentives), the 2025 Polestar 3 carries a more traditional luxury price tag.
For the 2024 model year, the Polestar 3 is available exclusively in Launch Edition trims, with prices starting at $80,300 for the dual-motor Long Range version and $86,300 for the Performance package. Recently, Polestar revealed the MSRP for the 2025 model year of the Polestar 3, marking the arrival of standard models beyond the Launch Edition.
Prices for the 2025 Polestar 3 start at $74,800, including $1,400 in destination charges. This price point secures a dual-motor model with a remarkable range of 315 miles, delivering 489 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque from its two motors. Unlike its competitors, the Polestar 3’s entry-level variant features all-wheel drive. Importantly, every Polestar 3 utilizes the same robust 111-kWh battery, capable of charging at a maximum rate of 250 kW.
Nevertheless, the entry-level Polestar 3 commands nearly $25,000 more than the equivalent Model Y Dual Motor Long Range, which offers a range of 310 miles. The next-tier Polestar 3 with the Performance package begins at $80,800, thus maintaining a premium over the Tesla Model Y Performance trim. Additionally, the 3 Performance package increases output to 517 hp and 671 lb-ft of torque, achieving an identical driving range to that of the Model Y Performance.
Both variants of the Polestar 3 can be equipped with an additional Plus package, priced at $5,500, which includes a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, wool seats, 21-inch wheels, and heated rear seats. Furthermore, the Pilot package—comprising Lidar- and camera-based safety features—has transitioned from being an optional $5,000 upgrade on Launch Edition models to a standard feature across the 2025 model lineup.

Is the Polestar 3 expensive? Yes, indeed. However, Polestar will provide a $7,500 lease incentive, although it does not qualify for the same Federal EV tax credits. Notably, our experience from a recent prototype drive revealed that it delivers a notably sportier performance compared to other two-row luxury SUVs. This sporty behavior draws comparisons to vehicles like Porsche, suggesting that the Polestar 3 competes fiercely against rivals such as the forthcoming Porsche Macan EV, which starts at $80,450.
