2025 Hyundai Santa Fe: Bigger, More Powerful, and Priced for Value

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe: A Bold New Look

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV goes bigger than its predecessor, both literally and figuratively, now with a third-row seat and plenty of presence and style. Love or hate the rectilinear new look (and we think most will appreciate it), the Santa Fe now stands out. This upgrade comes with a price increase—about $5,000 more than before—but that price premium is well justified as there’s plenty new to enjoy.

Enhanced Engine Options

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe comes better equipped than its predecessor, gaining the previously optional turbocharged 2.5-liter I-4 engine as standard, which produces 277 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Previously, buyers had to opt for the nearly $42,000 Santa Fe Limited trim level to access this engine, as it replaced the merely adequate, 191-hp non-turbo 2.5-liter engine. Now, the turbo engine is standard on the entry-level Santa Fe SE and is also available on the Santa Fe SEL, off-road-prepped XRT, Limited, and luxurious Calligraphy trims.

Modern Technology and Features

Moreover, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are newly standard, accompanied by a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The Sant Fe also includes a new dual-hinged folding center console that benefits from additional space due to the shifter’s relocation to the steering column. The new design allows for adequate three-row seating, thanks to the Santa Fe’s longer wheelbase and body.

Trim Pricing Overview

As you progress up the 2024 Santa Fe trim ladder, the price disparities between this year’s and last year’s models narrow somewhat. The XRT model stands out as it features tougher styling, 30-inch all-terrain tires, and a slight lift kit for enhanced off-road performance. This model now includes all-wheel drive as standard, priced at $6,045 more than last year’s all-wheel-drive Santa Fe XRT. The Limited trim is $2,810 more, while the Calligraphy trim sees a $3,960 price increase. Importantly, every gas-powered 2024 Santa Fe comes standard with front-wheel drive, with Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive available as an $1,800 option on every other trim.

For insight into the Santa Fe’s price increase from 2023 to 2024 being largely engine and content-related, consider the new Santa Fe Hybrid. Its MSRP changes little compared to the old Santa Fe Hybrid, primarily because its 231-hp gas-electric powertrain remains largely unchanged. The least-expensive Santa Fe Hybrid SEL sees an increase of only $800 from last year’s base trim, the Santa Fe Hybrid Blue model. The previous Santa Fe SEL Premium specification is no longer available, with the next tier being the Limited trim, which costs $2,045 more. Additionally, Hyundai has introduced the Calligraphy specification to the hybrid lineup for 2024, starting at $48,395. It’s worth noting that hybrids no longer come with all-wheel drive as standard—this now requires an $1,800 option.

Conclusion: Value and Popularity

In conclusion, the Santa Fe’s pricing remains reasonable, with increases justified by the SUV’s robust new design, additional standard power, and rising market prices across the board. In fact, Hyundai’s MSRP is now quite similar to that of the popular Kia Telluride—a three-row, midsize SUV known for its optimal size and competitive pricing, which outshines many other three-row midsizers like Ford’s Explorer and Honda’s Pilot. Consequently, the Santa Fe should attract considerable interest among potential buyers.
