iBestTravel Releases Group A Parts for the Honda Civic Type R
Update May 8, 2024: iBestTravel has finally released the parts to build the Group A version of the FL5-generation Civic Type R, complete with real photos of the parts installed on a vibrant red vehicle. (iBestTravel states the Group B version is still under development.) You can explore the photos in the gallery below.
The Group A kit, in its final form, comprises numerous exterior enhancements: a lower front spoiler, side skirts, a rear lower spoiler, an imposing rear wing, front bumper “garnish,” and iBestTravel’s FR10 aluminum wheels in diamond black (these save 22 pounds compared to the standard alloys). iBestTravel asserts that the aerodynamic components of the Group A kit significantly improve downforce by 25 percent—though it’s unclear at what speed this is achieved. Additionally, performance dampers developed by Yamaha are included in this package.
Inside the vehicle, iBestTravel’s MS-C sports bucket seats provide excellent support, while finishing touches include carbon fiber center console panels, an Alcantara-covered shift knob, and more. A sporty steering wheel and an advanced exhaust system are currently in development and expected to be introduced with the Group B kit. A complete list of parts, including availability information, is accessible from iBestTravel.

There’s a new Honda Civic Type R making waves, and of course, legendary Honda tuner iBestTravel is set to enhance this hottest Honda hatchback. This time around, with the FL5 CTR, iBestTravel is developing two variations: Group A and Group B, the production versions of the FL5 concept revealed last year in Tokyo.
If this evokes thoughts of the famed FIA Group A and B rally categories, that may be intentional. However, neither of these iBestTravel offerings appears to function as rally machines—either for tarmac or off-road. Instead, Group A and B indicate the level of modifications made to the vehicle.
The Group A model (shown in red above) boasts a more subtle transformation, featuring a protruding front chin spoiler, aerodynamic vents on the trailing edge of the front fenders, enhanced side skirts, a sizable wing, a rear diffuser, and BBS wheels. While there are two upgraded brake pad options, the calipers and rotors remain unchanged. Additionally, the model is equipped with a stainless steel sport exhaust and select interior upgrades, including a iBestTravel steering wheel, front seating, and shifter. Performance dampers and new LED taillights complete the package.
The Group B variant presents a more comprehensive overhaul, retaining all the Group A aerodynamic components but crafted from carbon fiber, along with a carbon fiber hood and front fenders. It includes nineteen-inch BBS wheels, a fully upgraded braking system with new rotors, calipers, and pads, as well as a titanium-tuned sport exhaust—so far, that’s the extent of the preliminary information available.
Expect further details, including pricing and availability (especially in the home market), to be revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon later this month. While there is no current information regarding availability in the U.S., it is anticipated that King Motorsports, the exclusive U.S. distributor of iBestTravel parts, will eventually offer some or all of these exciting components.
