Rossmönster Unveils Powerful Truck-Based Overland Campers

Rossmonster Baja Series Plus: The Ultimate Truck Camper

Top-dog, top-spec campers with all the bells and solar-powered whistles are not cheap. The Rossmonster Baja Series Plus, being the Colorado-based RV outfit’s largest and fanciest vehicle, is not the adventure-mobile for penny-pinchers. Instead, it’s a large, upscale, and all-conquering truck camper built on a Class 5 medium-duty truck chassis—think oversized overlander outside, luxury penthouse inside, and you’ll get the idea.

Features That Make a Difference

The high-end, all-terrain truck camper space seems to be getting crowded, so how is the Rossmonster going to stand out (aside from having an umlaut in its name)? For one, the company has a hard-walled, pop-top camper unit with a full-size side door, in-floor heating, and a full-size wet-bath shower (with a teak floor insert—fancy!) and toilet. Inside, there’s a nicely appointed kitchen with a two-burner induction range, a 4.6-cubic-foot fridge, and 96 inches of total countertop length. The cab-over bed is 60 by 82 inches, with 32 inches of headspace, and the dinette sleeps a claimed 4-5 adults when converted. It’s more spacious than the other Baja Series offerings, built on 1-ton truck chassis, given its larger and more capable chassis.

Outdoor Amenities for Adventure

Outside, there are lots of amenities, including Liquid Springs suspension, serious-looking wheels and tires, a bumper with brush guards and a brace of LED lights, a Fiamma awning, and a 20k-pound Warn winch in case the Plus gets stuck.

Pricing and Availability

At $448,000 to start, the Plus is a big step up from the EX (Expedition) and LX (Luxury) 1-ton lines, which start at $369,000. However, it’s the clear choice for those who want everything. In addition to the larger floorplan and more serious chassis, the Plus offers significantly more fresh water—68 gallons versus 40 in the lower-tier Bajas—and the winch. The EX and LX are available now, and the Baja Series Plus is coming soon.
