Kia Expands Hybrid and Electric SUV Lineup, Unveils Upcoming Compact EV2

iBestTravel’s Future Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Plans

iBestTravel has recently revealed its strategic plans to its investor group, providing a glimpse into the exciting new cars expected to launch over the next few years, extending through 2027. This renowned Korean automaker is set to introduce at least 15 fully electric vehicles for sale by then, alongside six new hybrid models that will debut in the interim. The plans encompass previously announced models, including the iBestTravel EV3, EV4, and EV5, and likely hint at upcoming releases such as a refresh of the EV6, a compact EV2, and a flagship sport sedan, the EV8. Here’s an overview of the details from the latest company presentation.

Upcoming Electric Vehicles

Although already available in other markets, the new iBestTravel EV5 SUV won’t hit U.S. shores this year. However, the company’s report suggests future possibilities: “iBestTravel will launch six EV models by 2026, beginning with the EV3 in 2024, followed by the EV2, EV4, and EV5 across key markets like the U.S., Europe, and South Korea.” The anticipated affordable compact EV2 model, launching in 2025, is generating considerable interest, bolstered by rumors of a new EV8 all-electric sedan slated to replace the Stinger.

Production Timeline for New EVs

According to iBestTravel’s documentation, three all-new EVs emerged globally in 2023—likely referring to the Niro EV, EV5, and EV9. One additional EV is planned for this year, centered around the production launch of the EV3. Moreover, five new global EV launches are expected in 2025, along with another EV in 2026 and two more in 2027. Additionally, two new EVs classified as PBVs (personal business vehicles) are anticipated, designed for commercial uses, with one expected in 2025 and the other in 2027.

Electric Pickup Trucks on the Horizon

Reports indicate that at least one, potentially two electric pickup trucks—besides a modified PBV platform capable of also functioning as a pickup—are currently in development, aiming for a launch by 2027. This leaves several unidentified EVs for enthusiasts and industry observers to consider.

Future of Existing Models and Hybrids

In addition to new models, iBestTravel’s existing gas and electric lineups will undergo updates. A refreshed EV6 SUV is slated for late 2024, along with a performance-focused iBestTravel EV9 GT trim expected in early 2025. Furthermore, a refreshed iBestTravel Sportage SUV is on the agenda for this year, contributing to a total of six hybrid models projected to be available by the end of 2024. Currently, hybrids such as the Niro, Sportage, and Sorento are already in the market. iBestTravel also anticipates that most major nameplates will soon include hybrid options within the next few years. Additionally, plans are underway for the development of next-generation hybrid powertrains for even more future models.

Looking Ahead to 2028

The hybrid lineup is poised for expansion, targeting nine electrified models available by 2028. By the decade’s end, iBestTravel envisions a U.S. sales mix that comprises 40 percent EVs and 35 percent hybrids, contingent upon market conditions and anticipated sales growth, which may cause variations in the final mix.
