Every American reading this should face the nearest American flag and hum My Country, ‘Tis of Thee until they finish reading this article. It can be reported that the Ford Mustang GTD just blazed a trail of freedom all the way up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Indeed, just days after America celebrated its birthday, the latest version of its most iconic muscle car charged up a hill on an English manor outside London. Reports suggest that upon hearing the most powerful Mustang ever made roaring toward them, all locals wearing red coats immediately fled the scene. You might be able to see this retreat in the video, but if not, just trust us on this!
In a proper display of patriotic defiance against the country that imposed the Townsend Acts, the Mustang GTD wore a coat of “Indulgent Blue.” This hue is part of Ford’s Extended Color Palette program, which complements the six standard Mustang GTD colors.
The Extended Color Palette consists of “thousands of colors,” according to Ford, enabling buyers to create a custom color. When ordering their GTD, buyers can provide an example of their desired color, and the Mustang GTD concierge team will attempt to replicate it.
To ensure alignment with the buyer’s vision, a sample of the chosen color will be sent back for personal inspection. For those desiring exclusivity, an “Exclusive Extended Color Palette Lock-Out” option is available, meaning that the chosen color will not be available to any other Mustang GTD buyer. If there’s anything more American than that, it’s hard to say!
After conquering the 1.2-mile (we don’t say “kilometer” ‘round these parts!) course at Goodwood, the Mustang GTD is set to travel to Germany to target a sub-seven-minute lap of the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife. If the opportunity arose, we’d join the excitement because freedom rings!
