Carrie Fisher to Receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
The late actress, best known for playing Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise, will be honored on Thursday, May 4 — aka Star Wars Day.
Fisher died at the age of 60 in December 2016, a few days after she suffered a cardiac event on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
The success of “Star Wars” made Fisher an overnight star. Her tough-as-nails Princess Leia was strong and independent, and the role positioned Fisher in the decades that followed as something of a feminist icon.
Fisher, born in 1956, was the daughter of screen legend Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher.

Fisher became a star alongside Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, who played her onscreen love interest, Han Solo. The cultural impact of “Star Wars” has solidified Fisher’s legacy, creating an enduring connection with fans worldwide. This connection continues to thrive through various tributes and memorials dedicated to her life and career.
