Remembering Siegfried Fischbacher: A Legacy of Magic and Wonder

Siegfried Fischbacher, an illusionist known for working with exotic cats as one half of the duo Siegfried & Roy, has died from pancreatic cancer, according to his publicist Dave Kirvin. He was 81.

Siegfried and Roy Horn dazzled audiences for decades with their act, combining incredible magic performances with the allure of exotic animals. Horn died in May from complications caused by Covid-19.

A Rise to Stardom

The pair rose from war-torn Germany to become global superstars in the realms of stage, film, and television. Their act initially began in Europe and later captivated Las Vegas audiences, where they performed for an impressive four decades.

The Mirage Show

Their $30 million production at The Mirage—an unprecedented amount at the time—regularly sold out the largest theater in Las Vegas history. However, the show concluded in 2003 following a tragic incident where Horn’s spine was severed by a white tiger during an on-stage performance.
