As a child of an iconic leader, Dr. Mandela recalls a vibrant family life filled with challenges. “My father always talked about the fact that the intention of the ANC (African National Congress) was always a peaceful transition for all South Africans. However, when they encountered brutal force, they knew they had to resort to an armed struggle,” she explained.

She appreciates the complexities of her father’s leadership during apartheid, where his choices were often dictated by the harsh realities of his environment. This included the vital mission to ensure emancipation from oppression for Black South Africans.
