Historic Presidential Debate and Recent News Highlights

A historic debate took place Thursday night between US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

It was the first time in US history that a sitting president faced a former president in a debate. Moreover, it was also the first debate since 2020 featuring either Biden, who faced no significant challenge for the Democratic nomination, or Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee who opted out of all GOP debates during the primary season.

The approximately 90-minute debate occurred at CNN’s studios in Atlanta. The candidates exchanged personal attacks while debating important issues like the economy, immigration, and abortion.

Interestingly, no audience was present, setting a unique stage for the event. This debate also marked the earliest presidential debate in US history, as debates between general election candidates usually commence in September or October.
