US Women’s Gymnastics Team Wins Gold in Paris
The US women’s gymnastics team is golden once again.
The Americans — silver medalists at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago — came into Tuesday’s final as the favorites after cruising through qualifying on Sunday.
Moreover, they delivered in style, dominating the field to win gold in Paris.
It was a bit of redemption for superstar Simone Biles, who has now won eight Olympic medals — surpassing Shannon Miller for the most by an American gymnast.
Biles withdrew from the team competition three years ago after a shocking case of the “twisties,” a mental block where gymnasts lose track of their positioning midair. However, on Tuesday, she competed in all four events and contributed impressive scores throughout.
Upcoming Competitions
Biles will next compete Thursday in the individual all-around, which she won in 2016. Her teammate Suni Lee won gold in Tokyo after Biles pulled out.
