Mother of the Bride: Filming Locations in Thailand
Mother of the Bride is the latest feel-good flick to land on Netflix. Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) returns home from her travels and reveals she’s getting married to RJ (Sean Teale). The fact the wedding is in Thailand in just one month is the first of a series of twists and turns, as Emma’s mother (Brooke Shields) soon discovers that the father of her son-in-law-to-be broke her heart in the past.
The Mark Waters-directed rom-com is set against a backdrop of tropical beaches and exquisite hotels. Filming commenced in spring 2023 ahead of the 9 May 2024 release.
Benjamin Bratt (who plays Lana’s ex-flame Will) said in an interview with Netflix: “The best thing about this job was it never felt like work… As a troupe of actors, we were like a circus crew, all off on a great adventure together.”
Stunning Filming Locations
Here, we take a look at the dreamy hotels used in the filming of Mother of the Bride.
Anantara Layan Phuket Resort
Anantara Layan Phuket Resort was the first of two Anantara properties in Phuket that were used for filming. The property offers a paradisiacal setting ideal for the rom-com’s relationships to flourish, set between a stretch of pristine beach and swathes of lush vegetation.
