Martha Stewart and Her Aston Martin DB9: A Unique Connection to James Bond

What do James Bond, the iconic international spy of novels and films, and Martha Stewart, the renowned lifestyle and cooking expert, have in common? While there may not be much at first glance, both individuals are fans of Aston Martins, a name synonymous with luxury and performance.

This past weekend, Stewart showcased her mid-aughts Aston Martin DB9 coupe on Instagram. The elegant sports car boasts a stunning gray finish and, according to Stewart’s post, features a genuine six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, she mentioned that the car is usually “covered in the carport,” yet it “drives like a dream once you master the gears.” This revelation is indeed impressive, especially when considering that Aston Martins traditionally offered the DB9 with an automatic gearbox as well.

No wonder Stewart expressed her pleasure by stating, “the car sounds great.” It’s worth noting that the DB9 is equipped with a powerful 5.9-liter V12 engine, delivering a sound “as delicious as anything Ferrari or Lamborghini has to offer,” as noted back in 2004.

Just like 007, Stewart took the wheel of her DB9 with a mission in mind: delivering fresh eggs to a friend amid the coronavirus pandemic. Importantly, the 78-year-old media mogul adhered to social distancing protocols by “leaving [the eggs] on her sidewalk” upon arrival.

While delivering eggs may not equate to battling an international terrorist organization, it’s certainly a commendable act, especially during challenging times. Upon returning home, Stewart revealed that she couldn’t celebrate her charitable deed with a glass of wine, as she had chosen to give it up for Lent. Nevertheless, one can hope that she embraced her inner-James Bond and enjoyed a martini instead—shaken, not stirred, of course.
