Bitchin’ Boot Camp Week 5 Power Rankings: A Flair for Fender Repair

Bitchin’ Boot Camp is a building competition where 12 highly skilled fabricators compete for the chance to join the Kindig-it Design crew.

The final five contestants face their most difficult challenge yet—repairing all the damage inflicted on pristine reproduction front fenders. The crew at Kindig-it Design often works with damaged and irreplaceable parts, so this challenge reflects the undertaking of restoring vehicles that require extensive repair. The contestants were tasked with handling dent repairs, patch panels for rusted sections, and filling holes from removed markers—all under the added difficulty of cutting each fender in half. Only one contestant, Frank Fannelli, was smiling about the challenge—well, besides Briana Huhn, who has proven her resilience throughout the competition.

Frank, hailing from Kendall, New York, has a wealth of experience in automotive sheet metal repair. Residing in the Rust Belt, he has likely encountered cars needing significant restoration. Dave and Kevin noted that Frank approached repairs similarly to their methods, showcasing his skills. Contestants were captivated as they watched him work, almost like observing a documentary on automotive bodywork. “Bodywork is one of my favorite things to do on a car,” Frank stated, making the task seem effortless. His performance impressed both competitors and judges alike, allowing him to emerge victorious, even outshining Briana.

Bitchin’ Boot Camp Week 5 Power Rankings

  • Dez Ferrell: Surprising to find Dez at the bottom despite finally receiving a bodywork challenge, her claimed specialty. Her welding skills nearly led to elimination, narrowly edging out Jaime Hjelm.
  • Justin Culver: In a list of only four contestants, the gap between third and fourth place is significant. Although Justin struggled initially, he is now proving he has what it takes to make it to the end.
  • Frank Fannelli: This week marked Frank’s best performance yet, even making Briana appear inexperienced. With only three episodes remaining, we are optimistic about his chances for the finals.
  • Briana Huhn: While Briana finished behind Frank this week, her skill and consistency keep her at the forefront of the competition. Although not invincible, she must stay alert as Frank and Justin are rivalling for her position.
