Experience Slide the City Around the World
Updated 12:39 AM EDT, Wed July 8, 2015
Selfie-sticks are welcome as long as you don’t drop them when sliding down.
Coming soon — Slide the City Hong Kong will be installed next to the Victoria Harbor at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. The 1,000-feet waterway will be the global brand’s first waterside slide.
“You’ve grown and the slide has too,” says Amy Gessel, Slide the City’s spokesperson. Inspired by fond childhood memories, Slide the City was founded in 2013.
The company has partnered with different groups around the world to build pop-up slides in various global cities.
The first public event was held in the company founders’ home town, Salt Lake City.
“Tokyo is probably the most popular one,” says Gessel. The slide was set up on the city’s Dream Bridge.
Slide the City’s team gets emails from around the world every day, inviting them to different cities. “There are several factors we consider, including weather, population and whether or not there is a suitable street or location,” says Gessel.
After picking the location, Slide the City supports local organizers by advising on location, crowd control, slider technology and the water system. It visited West Palm Beach earlier this year.
