Exploring the Future of Performance Venues: Vertical Theater in the UK

The Vertical Theatre: A New Era for Live Entertainment

A new concept for a socially-distanced theater has been unveiled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vertical Theatre aims to provide a crucial boost to the struggling live entertainment industry, evolving how audiences experience performances.

Innovative Design for Live Events

The Vertical Theatre is designed to accommodate various live events, including theater, festivals, global artist tours, comedy, circus, and televised shows. This freestanding, tourable structure features a roof that protects audiences and performers alike from the elements, while its optional open sides promote optimal airflow and natural ventilation.

Capacity and Audience Experience

The theater can host between 1200 and 2400 audience members, adjusting according to social distancing guidelines. Audiences sit in balconies that cater to groups of four to twelve people, creating social bubbles separated by transparent panels. Each patron enjoys an intimate view of the performance, and the space is adaptable for when COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in effect. Moreover, it boasts built-in global streaming capabilities, further extending its reach.
