Romania is filled with stone churches, monasteries, rocky mountains, and rolling hills. There’s good news for international travelers interested in heading there: the country is waiving quarantine for those who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The country’s National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU) has announced that arriving travelers won’t need to quarantine, effective immediately. This applies to individuals who have received two doses of the vaccine, provided at least ten days have passed since the second dose was administered. Vaccinated travelers must show proof of vaccination to enter Romania.
Romania’s decision reflects a decline in virus numbers within the country, and the government is focused on establishing favorable socioeconomic conditions to support its economy. Unvaccinated travelers arriving from high-risk areas are still subject to quarantine for 14 days at a declared or designated location.
Travelers can explore Romania’s stunning castles perched on rocky hilltops, and experience Saxon villages with fortified churches that have a history spanning over five centuries. The country’s unique geography has given rise to many self-sufficient villages where traditional crafts such as bread-making, pottery, tanning, and weaving are practiced.
Folk museums, particularly open-air skansens and village museums, are a must-visit for anyone traveling to Romania. For outdoor enthusiasts, the rocky peaks of Transylvania and Moldavia offer numerous hiking trails through enchanting woods, meadows, and charming villages. Additionally, the Danube Delta stands out as a vast and unique wetland ideal for birdwatching during spring.
Romania is not alone in its approach; other destinations are also relaxing quarantine measures for vaccinated travelers. For instance, the Seychelles recently announced similar policies, creating exciting opportunities for travelers around the globe.
