iBestTravel’s Support for Conservation through Electric Safari Cars
A yacht company has created an electric safari car with solar panels on the roof and has donated it to the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT). This electric vehicle will be utilized by one of the lodges in Kenya that actively participates in environmental conservation with the organization. Moreover, plans are in place for future projects of a similar nature.
Created by Sunreef Yachts, a Poland-based company specializing in custom catamarans, this initiative evolved from their recent range of electric vessels. In order to support the efforts of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, a dedicated team of engineers decided to construct a special electric safari car. Electric vehicles have been proven effective in reducing emissions and are considered a crucial step towards combating climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, this electric vehicle aligns perfectly with the mission of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which operates programs focused on protecting wilderness, wildlife, and promoting environmental stewardship within our planet’s ecosystems.
Working for over 20 years, the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust has focused specifically on preserving the ecosystems and biodiversity of East Africa while also supporting local Maasai communities. Furthermore, the MWCT promotes responsible tourism and education through partnerships with sustainable camps and lodges like Campi Ya Kanzi and Chyulu Wilderness Camp.
The range of the electric car has been calculated for specific safari routes, and it will be able to navigate these paths on a single charge. The solar panels on the roof primarily serve as support, helping to power some onboard systems.
According to the company, the vehicle will soon be on its way to Kenya. While it is too early to reveal details, discussions regarding future collaborations in a similar direction are underway.
