Nominate Your Favorite Location for Colorado’s Future State Park
Be Part of Colorado’s Outdoor Future
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is committed to enhancing nature-based recreation spaces by encouraging public nominations for future state parks. Do you have a favorite spot that deserves recognition?
Experience Colorado’s Diverse Landscape
Home to breathtaking scenery, Colorado offers a treasure trove of national and state parks for camping, hiking, cycling, skiing, rafting, and wildlife watching. As demand for accessible outdoor space continues to rise, officials are seeking your input on potential new parks.
Engage with Colorado’s Park System
“As we saw a surge in park attendance during the pandemic, it highlights the critical need for more outdoor spaces for both locals and visitors,” said Dan Prenzlow, director of Colorado Parks and Wildlife. “We invite residents to share their insights on the lands they believe should be part of our state park system, contributing to the creation of unique parks that cater to community needs.”
Nominating Criteria
To submit a nomination, certain criteria must be met, which can be viewed in detail here. The nominated area should primarily benefit outdoor recreation, promote local economies, enhance public health, and improve the overall quality of life. Furthermore, accessibility for all ages and abilities, as well as conservation of natural resources, are essential factors in the selection process.
