An entrant in the travel section of an international photography competition will be given the opportunity to explore key US destinations in a drink brand’s “whiskey van” for two weeks.
Hochstadter’s Slow & Low Rock and Rye is sponsoring the travel category of lifestyle magazine Monster Children’s 10th annual photo competition. The other categories include music, action, lifestyle, student, and “shot on mobile.” This category is open to international entrants, and the winner will receive a AUD $5000 ($3538) prize. Moreover, a US-based entrant will have the chance to collaborate with the brand on a two-week contract position as its “Chief of Discovery.”
The selected individual will be flown to California to meet with the marketing team to strategize the journey. Consequently, they will be responsible for showcasing the Slow & Low lifestyle ethos by embarking on a two-week trip to prime locations along the west coast, including Arizona and New Mexico. The travel will be in a customized 1978 Chevy G20, featuring a walnut bar, leather bench seating, and a top-quality sound system. Additionally, a stipend will be provided for expenses such as gas, food, accommodation, and local activities.
Throughout this adventure, the chosen individual will be tasked with capturing photo content for Slow & Low’s social media channels and official website. They will also curate city guides for each destination they visit, which will include recommendations for activities, hotels, bars, and restaurants. This information will be showcased on a dedicated landing page on the company’s website. Furthermore, they are welcome to bring a friend or pet along for the journey. After this two-week period, the Chief of Discovery will have opportunities to collaborate with Slow & Low on several additional travel content projects throughout 2021.
The ideal candidate must be over the age of 21, possess a valid driver’s license, have a genuine appreciation for Slow & Low, and be willing to travel extensively. Additionally, they should have the ability to capture compelling content suitable for social media. “Travel is a rewarding experience in and of itself, but this is a truly unique way to experience some of America’s beautiful locales while testing one’s photography skills,” states Campbell Milligan, Monster Children’s founder and creative director. Interested individuals can participate through Monster Children’s website, with entries due by 31 October.
