Delta Resumes Complimentary Beer and Wine Service on Domestic Flights
As part of their efforts to adapt to the evolving travel environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many airlines had temporarily suspended alcohol services. However, Delta Airlines has recently announced the return of complimentary beer and wine for first-class and Delta Comfort+ passengers traveling on all routes greater than 500 miles.
The decision to restart the offering follows consultations with health professionals. Delta has determined that single-serve wine and beer options pose fewer touch points compared to mixed drinks, making them ideal for reintroduction as the airline enhances its food and beverage services onboard. Flight attendants will deliver these beverages using serving trays, ensuring a streamlined and hygienic process.
Moreover, complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails will still be available for all passengers on long-haul international flights, featuring an exclusive selection of liquor and sommelier-curated wines for Delta One customers. Throughout this transition, onboard service adaptations, such as individual snack bags and other offerings, will continue to be implemented.
Allison Ausband, Delta’s senior vice president of in-flight service, stated, “In keeping with the Delta CareStandard, our aim is to serve all meals and beverages in the safest manner possible—for both our customers and our employees. We take pride in always listening to our customers, and we recognize that beer and wine are the adult beverages they desire the most. These selections are the first step towards a normal beverage offering while maintaining our commitment to safety.”
