A recent report by European Best Destination highlights several countries that have effectively managed public health while welcoming international travelers.

Georgia

Compared to other nations, Georgia has managed to keep its COVID-19 case numbers significantly lower. The country implemented swift health measures, resulting in case figures approximately 260 times less than the most affected European countries. With borders reopening on July 1st for select nations, Georgia is set to enact numerous health protocols aimed at safeguarding both visitors and residents.

Greece

Greece has reported a low total number of COVID-19 cases and deaths compared to its European counterparts. Importantly, the country is currently welcoming international travelers with operational cafés, restaurants, and bars with outdoor seating. Notably, Greece experienced 50 times fewer infections than most other European nations, and its healthcare system effectively managed the pandemic’s challenges. Monitoring measures, including social distancing, are in place for beach visits and tourist attractions, enhancing safety for all.

Portugal

With COVID-19 cases 40 times lower than in most European destinations, Portugal is emerging as an appealing travel option. The beautiful Azores, the Algarve, and the Madeira Islands are particularly noted for their favorable conditions. The country recently introduced measures to facilitate safe tourism, requiring visitors to the Azores to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 72 hours. Furthermore, travelers to Madeira can access free COVID-19 testing upon arrival, making it easier to ensure safety.

Croatia

Romania has managed to report 15 times fewer COVID-19 cases than the most affected European nations. As of the latest update, the country has documented 22,000 infections and 1,410 deaths. According to Romania-insider.com, it is easing landing and quarantine requirements for countries with low case numbers while getting ready to reopen its economy and services. Last year, Romania was deemed the fastest-growing destination for UK travelers.
