Experience Global Cultures During Travel-Themed Weekends in Vilnius

Experience Global Culture in Vilnius, Lithuania

The Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, is striving to give people a taste of global travel by celebrating one of the world’s cultures every second weekend. This initiative began as a way to provide locals with a flair of international travel while the country faced restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, the goal is to evoke positive emotions, such as the joy of travel and the discovery of new cultures in a healthy and safe environment.

As Lithuania has now opened again to some countries, visitors can enjoy the vibrant colours, enticing aromas, and melodious sounds of diverse cultures. The initiative kicked off with an Italian weekend, while cultural highlights from India, the US, France, Spain, Germany, and Japan will also be celebrated as the summer progresses. These cultural experiences include food tastings, concerts, exhibitions, educational events, special projects for children, thematic guided tours, and other engaging attractions.

The Italian weekend featured the presentation of Vespa scooters alongside a Venetian-carnival-themed performance in the artistic neighbourhood of Užupis. Furthermore, Italian-themed family events, concerts, and restaurants serving special dishes were organized throughout the city. These events were carefully spaced out to promote social distancing while ensuring that attendee numbers adhered to recommended limits.
