Window Concerts at Zeitgeist Vienna
A hotel in Vienna has creatively found a way to keep guests’ spirits high while adhering to safety guidelines during the ongoing pandemic. This unique initiative offers a courtyard opera that can be both viewed and heard from all of the hotel rooms.
Hosted by Zeitgeist Vienna, a recent concert featured the talented string ensemble Camerata Carnuntum, accompanied by opera singers Monika Medek and Dagmar Dekanovsky. The concert showcased a selection of well-known pieces ranging from Mozart to Strauss, providing a rich musical experience.
“Our ‘window concerts’ were designed to give artists the chance to perform live again and to allow guests to enjoy music in a safe setting. We transform our space into an outdoor concert hall for several evenings. Guests watch from their rooms, overlooking the green courtyard of the hotel, ensuring an entirely corona-safe experience,” stated Zeitgeist Vienna.
This innovative idea stems from past concerts held in the hotel’s green courtyard. However, instead of sitting directly in front of the performers, attendees now enjoy the music from the comfort of their rooms, creating a unique auditory experience. With 55 rooms offering views of the courtyard, implementing this plan proved to be quite feasible.
“We received overwhelming positive feedback during and after the window concert. Consequently, three more window concerts are scheduled at Zeitgeist Vienna until the end of August,” the hotel explained. The next concert is set for June 27, featuring the Austrian R’nB, soul, and pop band The Men, followed by acoustic blues musician Siggi Fassl on July 18.
